September 2017

After missing the May fishing trip for the first time in over 35 years, Fred Bouwman and Jeff Westra joined me for a trip in mid-September 2017. We experienced the typical mix of weather: sunny & warm, rain & cool nights. The leaves changed before our eyes as each day passed. Just happy to be back!

I went grouse hunting and had some success. It was fun to hike through the woods along the old, abandoned logging trails.

Fishing was steady if not spectacular, but we did not mind when surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the wilderness.

Saw a fox, a beaver, eagles, loons and heard coyotes yip and howl at night. Enjoyed the Northern Lights on a moonless night.

We ate well and enjoyed many laughs.

The road was in rough shape, the beaver dam flooded the road and we needed to clear lots of brush.

It was a wonderful trip!
